Problem #1: Recover videos files from Galaxy Note 5
I VIDEO recorded my kindergartner’s performance today (via-NOTE5). WHILE i recorded everything was fine. Kinder-Performance was over so i Paused the video. When I went to retrieve the video file it indicated not enough space-error. As i click on the BLACK SCREEN VIDEO (kinder-performance) it indicates “CAN’T PLAY VIDEO”. HOWEVER THE INFO (i) DETAILS indicate the FILE is 442MB.
I downloaded everything to my phone to my desktop, assuming i could retrieve it that way. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
I’ve CLEARED CATCH, I CLEARED THE APPLICATION MANAGER. STILL NOT WORKING!!!

Solution: Hi Ruby. A situation like this can be caused by a malfunctioning storage device and unfortunately, there might be little to nothing that you can do to retrieve the video file back. The usual software troubleshooting that we recommend won’t help either. If you are willing to invest in the recovery of the said file, we recommend that you tap the expertise of professionals in this area.

Problem #2: Galaxy Note 5 won’t boot up normally
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 which has run without any major glitches up until 2 weeks ago. I routinely updated all apps over a 8MBPS home Wi-Fi overnight when the phone was being charged. The next morning I was greeted with the phone stuck at the flashing blue and white Samsung logo. I executed the 3-button hard reset and it worked fine for about 3 days. Then, the phone would randomly restart (sometimes during calls, sometimes a short while after).
Also, some apps and widgets – notably Jorte calendar, Multicon…would disappear. They wouldn’t be found in the app tray either. Reinstallation attempts from Play Store would throw up Error Code 110 and a ‘unable to install message’. The next 4 days, the random restarts continued but the apps would re-appear suddenly until the next random restart.
Finally, I had enough and I did a 3-button factory wipe last night. The phone came on successfully and I loaded just the few apps I’d absolutely need – Aquamail client, Jorte calendar, WhatsApp and Facebook. All the while it kept throwing up ‘SNS unable to start’. I disabled SNS and Samsung Apps and everything was fine until I discovered SNote app wouldn’t start. So I enabled the Samsung Apps app and it upgraded itself.
I plugged in the now running fine phone to charge overnight. This morning, I found the phone stuck at Samsung Galaxy Note 5 screen, and put it back in but the phone would not go past that screen. So I did the 3 button hard reset again… this time too, the phone got stuck at the same boot screen. Since then the phone doesn’t come on, no led lights glow, even when plugged in.
Tried again a few times but to no avail. I’ve checked the battery with a multimeter and it read 4.1v so I guess the battery is fully charged. The screen remains blank even when charging with no leds lit up anywhere.

Solution: Hi Kiran. We can’t know for sure what the real problem is unless we have physical access to your phone. Based on your problem description, the issue can either be due to a faulty software or may be the result of a hardware failure. Since you have opened the phone and removed the battery, we don’t for certain if the hardware is working normally.
If you can’t boot the phone to other modes like safe mode, recovery mode, or download mode at this time, that’s a sign that there is nothing that you can do at your end, unless you have advanced tools and software to detect what the problem is in the first place.
Your best bet right now is to look for a shop that can check the device and repair it if that’s still possible.
Problem #3: Galaxy Note 5 won’t download Samsung account completely
My device often tries to download Samsung Account, but could not download completely. This happens automatically and could not stop manually too. Only way to stop is by restarting the device. I tried to resolve it by logging into Samsung Account and could not found any option there. I think it is one reason that my device battery is draining unnecessarily.
Another problem is Facebook Syncing. It also happens often saying “Sync Facebook with other apps” but do nothing. While I logged in Facebook, it says “this device is already registered”, but this message appears again and again.
My device often does not ring when someone calls me. It does not happen always but occurs often and so I missed some calls. The screen shows the coming call without ringing. I checked the volume setting if it is muted, but setting is ok. When I make a call to device from another device to test, it rings.
For all above mentioned problems, I tried by restarting the device, factory reset, cache wipe out though setting, Internal cache wipe out by shutting down the device taking out the battery at least for 10 seconds and reinserting the battery and pressing and holding down the Power Key+Volume up key. But the problems remains intact. — Ratna
Solution: Hi Ratna. Sometimes, doing a factory reset may become useless if the real cause of the problem is one of your installed apps. If, after doing a factory reset, you simply reinstalled the same set of apps, you are virtually not eliminating the issue. Right now, you can do either of these potential solutions:
do a factory reset again, or
boot the phone in safe mode for some time
If you want to do another factory reset, which we highly recommend, make sure to let the phone run for at least a day without installing any apps so you will know if one of the apps you install is the culprit.
Should you want to go for safe mode, here are the steps to do it:
Turn off the phone completely.
Press and hold the Power key.
Once ‘Samsung Galaxy Note5’ shows, release the Power key and immediately press and hold the Volume Down button.
The phone will restart but keep the Vol Down button pressed.
Once the phone has finished restarting, ‘Safe mode’ will be display in the lower-left corner of the screen.
You may now release the Volume Down button.
Safe mode prevents third party apps from running. If the issue/s fail to occur, that’s an indication that one of your apps is to blame. Consider uninstalling apps until you have removed the cause.
Problem #4: Galaxy Note 5 won’t turn on
Everything was OK the phone worked normally, i was chatting with my friend using WhatsApp app, when suddenly the phone turned off and restarted itself. It seemed to me that it restarted but it actually get stuck in boot logo, and that it didn’t work after that.
I didn’t download any suspicios app or open any unknown link. I’m very worried about my data in the phone. i saw your tips for fixing stuck in boot logo, but they didn’t work and now i tried to turn on the phone and it showed me a white screen. So what can i do? can i retrieve my data? — Mariam
Solution: Hi Mariam. There is often little to nothing that an average user can do if their smartphone no longer turns on normally, even after doing the basic troubleshooting solutions that we recommend. If you have already tried to boot the phone in other modes like safe mode, recovery mode, or download mode with the same result, that’s an indication that there may be a hardware problem that should be addressed.
Hardware issues cannot be fixed by the usual software troubleshooting found in our site. Make sure to have the phone checked by Samsung so a warranty repair can be requested, or simply ask a replacement from relevant party.
Problem #5: Galaxy Note 5 multiple apps failure
I want to sell my Galaxy so I tried to erase all the data and uninstall apps. I think I may have gone a little bit too far as the phone started displaying error messages: “Setup Wizard has stopped”, “Samsung Account has stopped”, “Google Play has stopped”, “Hangouts has stopped”, “Youtube has stopped”.
Then, in an attempt to fix things.. I’ve actually made it worse. I tried resetting the phone to factory setting… that didn’t work. The error messages still keep appearing.
Then I tried to hard reset the phone… and I think that is my biggest mistake, because after that I can’t go past the accessibility screen… it just displaying the error message “Google Account Manager has stopped”.
Is there hope in restoring this phone? How do I go about it? Thanks. — Christine
Solution: Hi Christine. The easiest way to wipe all personal data from a phone is via factory reset. This procedure not only cleans the phone’s internal storage area but also forces the system to revert all apps back to factory set up and deletes all third party ones. This means that all default apps are “re-installed”, effectively wiping any potential software issues.
Your case appears to be the exact opposite after a factory reset though. Did you modify the operating system in any way? Operating system modifications can come in a variety of methods including rooting and flashing of non-standard/stock firmware. If you did flash non-stock firmware or ROM, we recommend that you install the stock firmware first before attempting another factory reset procedure.
