The Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S are great phones but we look at how often these devices break down
The Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S are great smartphones but even the best devices out there can break down once in a while. A new report from FixYa takes a look at the main problems with these and found that the Galaxy S3's microphone can have issues and many people have complaints about the battery of the iPhone 4S.
The report used data from FixYa's 25 million users and found that the main issue with the Galaxy S3 was the microphone malfunctioning, as 50 percent of those with issues pointed to this. Other gripes included the battery life (15 percent), device gets hot (15 percent) and Internet connection issues (10 percent).
While I've never had any microphone issues with my Galaxy S3, I can definitely attest to some of the other complaints. My biggest Galaxy S3 gripes have been the battery life and the connectivity issue, so it's nice to see I'm not alone.
FixYa offers a few solutions for these problems, as it said doing a software update may fix the microphone issue. If that doesn't work, it recommends a factory reset, but please remember to back up your work first.
As for the iPhone 4S, 45 percent of the complaints said the battery life was the most pressing issue. This was followed by not being able to connect to Wi-Fi (20 percent), Bluetooth connection woes (15 percent) and complaints about Siri (10 percent).
I'm actually shocked that Siri isn't higher on the list, as I've found that it often can't connect to the server and won't work. I've used multiple iPhone 4S units and am a bit surprised to see there were concerns with the battery life. I can normally take my iPhone 4S off the charger in the morning and not have to worry about it until later in the night. That's something I definitely can't say about the Galaxy S3.
If you are having bad battery life with the iPhone 4S, FixYa suggests many of the things we did in our piece on how to improve your iPhone's battery life. This includes things like turning off your location services, turn down your screen brightness and start fetching your email instead of having it download automatically.
