It's July, so a new month means a new Samsung phone. This month's offering is the "Galaxy S5 Mini," which isn't just a compact version of the Galaxy S5. It borrows the styling and feature set, but the device is "mini" in size and specs. You'll be getting a 4.5-inch, 720p screen, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor of unspecified make and model, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera. Compare that to the full-sized Galaxy S5, which has a 5.1-inch 1080p screen, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, and a 16MP camera.
The S5 Mini does cling to most of its bigger brother's feature set, packing a dimpled rear design, fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor, IP67 dust and water resistance, and Ultra Power Saving mode. Samsung says the Galaxy S5 Mini "enables users to enjoy the same flagship experience as the Galaxy S5."
