Device launches are never perfect, and how could we expect them to be when a company is shipping millions of phones at once? Every now and then there’s a report of a phone shipping with some sort of damage right out of the box, and the latest story involves the Galaxy S6.
One Samsung customer in Korea found their Galaxy S6 looking a bit more bloated than usual. Upon opening the box, the customer noticed that the entire battery had expanded, blowing off the back panel of the smartphone and ruining the display at the same time. PhoneArena said the customer was able to get the device replaced without issue, but it seems like a potentially dangerous situation.
We don’t suspect this is going to be a widespread issue, and any number of things could have caused this to happen on its way to the customer. We certainly wouldn’t want our new smartphone showing up looking like that.
