Problem #1: Alternatives for Skype on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
How come on S6 Edge I can’t use Skype without paying for it. What video chat can I use. — Roberta
Solution: Hi Roberta. As far as we know, Skype still offers free video and voice calls for those who don’t want to use their premium service. You must be doing something that triggers their system to use only their paid service.

Problem #2: Galaxy S6 S Health app not working properly
I use S Health and somehow found the Coach feature for pacing during my run. Now I can’t figure out how to make it work again. I only see 5K training stuff. I can’t find any info for this on the web.. Help me Android Guy, you’re my only hope. — Joana
Solution: Hi Joana. We can’t figure out what exactly you want to accomplish here but if you are trying to reset some settings of your S Health app, you can do so by deleting its cache and data. Simply follow these steps:
Go to Settings.
Proceed to Applications.
Select Manage Applications.
Tap the All tab.
Look for S Health app and tap it.
From there, you will see the Clear Cache and Clear Data buttons.
Tapping Clear Data is like re-installing an app. This means that it will delete everything app-related like previous logs. It also forces the app to revert to its factory settings so you may want to re-configure it afterwards.
Problem #3: Galaxy S6 redirected to Google Play Store
My phone keeps redirecting me to the Google Play Store to apps that I have no interest in. This happens when I do normal things like click my photo or start a text or start making a call. And sometimes when I just unlock my phone. Why is this? And is there anything I can do? — Jerry
Solution: Hi Jerry. Your device may have been infected by an adware or malware. This is a known issue but Android community does not have a list of apps that triggers such occurrence yet.
Try doing a factory reset to clean the phone and re-install apps from reputable developers only. These are the steps to perform a factory reset:
Power down the Galaxy S5.
Press and hold the Volume Up button, the Home button, and the Power button together until you see the Android on screen.
Use Volume down to highlight the wipe data/factory reset option and press the Power button to select it.
Use Volume down again to highlight Yes – delete all user data and press Power to select it.
Use the Power button to select Reboot system now.
When the S5 restarts it should be completely wiped and ready to set up again.
Problem #4: Video problems on Galaxy S6 when using playing them from SnapChat or Instagram
Every time i play a SnapChat or an Instagram video, the video slows down completely after about 7 seconds and then returns to normal after about 5 to 6 seconds, the audio is not affected. In developers settings, i changed the default player from nuplayer to awesome player and that seemed to have fixed the videos on snapchat but not on instagram. This is extremely annoying and i can’t find any more solutions online.

Solution: Hi Stephan. We can’t really explain what triggers the issue you have here but consider deleting the phone’s system cache or doing a factory reset to see any difference.
If you haven’t tried deleting the system cache before, just do these steps:
Turn the device off.
Press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons simultaneously.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons.
Now, when Android recovery screen appears, highlight the wipe cache partition option using Volume Down button.
To confirm the selection, press the Power button.
Wait for a while until wiping the cache partition is finished.
Now, Reboot System now will appear on the screen. To highlight the option use the Volume Up/Down key.
Press the Power button to confirm it, and your device will automatically reboot.
Problem #5: Multiple apps not working on Galaxy S6
I had this issue with my 2 year old Samsung s4, stupidly assuming an S6 was the solution. Basically, as time goes on, more and more apps don’t work or won’t even load when opened. When I bought the S6, it was better for the first few weeks, and slowly my apps are not working again.
For example : Google Calendar allows me to enter an event, but won’t pull up options for locations. And then won’t save new appointments. Sometimes it does, but 70% of the time, no event was saved. Some apps open and show they are loading, but after 5-10min i give up and just use the web browser.
Facebook app won’t load anything anymore now. I just use the web browser. Restarting does not change anything. Help! Husband says “should have got an iphone!” :-/” — Jess
Solution: Hi Jess. The standard troubleshooting for software problems may help you in this regard. The first thing you must do is delete the cache partition (instructions given for Stephan above). If wiping the cache won’t improve the situation, you can resort factory reset, which is basically wiping the phone’s internal storage and reverting the firmware to default.
If the problem occurs after doing a factory reset, that means that one of your installed applications may be to blame. There’s no hardware issue that can cause this so this is not Samsung’s fault.
To check if a third party app is the reason behind, boot the phone in safe mode. Here’s how:
Turn off the phone completely.
Press and hold the Power/Lock key for a few seconds to turn on the device.
When Samsung logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down key until the lock screen shows up.
The word “Safe mode” should now show on the lower left corner of the screen indicating that your device is now in Safe Mode.
Safe mode prevents third party apps from running so if you cannot replicate the issue, it’s a clear indication that one of the apps is problematic. Start removing apps until the issue has been eliminated.
Problem #6: Galaxy S6 lags after installing app and lost ability to uninstall
My phone started downloading apps all by itself as normal. I tried to delete them but wasn’t able to because the apps didn’t have the minus sign that installed apps usually have as if they where default apps. I notice five minutes later that my phone was acting was slow and restarted it that didn’t work so the I went online and I saw this website I tried the factory reset but the apps still didn’t go get deleted so please. Could you tell me what the next step from here is. thank you. — Mbali
Solution: Hi Mbali. If the phone started showing performance problems after installing an app or apps and no longer gives you the option to uninstall, that’s definitely not normal. That means that either the firmware has been corrupted or a malware is preventing the removal of the said apps.
Try to factory reset the phone and make sure not to install those apps again.
Problem #7: Galaxy S6 keeps showing “there is a problem parsing this package” error after installing Google Play Store APK
I have a Telus Galaxy S6 that was perfectly fine until a couple of weeks ago. My Google Play Store wouldn’t let me see any apps available for download. So I uninstalled all the Google Play Store updates. This lead to me not being able to download any app from the Play Store. I couldn’t update either.
So I went online and downloaded the Google Play APK. The Play Store is working fine now but the phone constantly gets an error message saying “there is a problem parsing this package”. I don’t know what to do now, please help. — Sanjeeven
Solution: We’d recommend you simply do a factory reset in this case but if you don’t want to go through the hassle, try uninstalling the updates for Google Services Framework app to see any difference. This app is responsible for maintaining a steady stream of information flowing between your device and Google’s services so if it’s messed up, it can affect other Google products installed on your S6.
Problem #8: Galaxy S6 Google Play Store keeps crashing and asking to report
Would you like to report this problem? They ask, every frigging time!! H#ll Yes, I would, and DO – every fucking time!!! This error has popped up randomly, inexplicably, and chronically for TWO YEARS RUNNInG!!!. Google it!! I’ve suggested this in their repair report! I think they are filing THOSE in a circular file somewhere!!
Unfortunately, if I ever run into the tech who wrote that code – I will throttle him!!!
I’ve tried every fix, re-boot, re-install, update, uninstall known to God & Man – & NOTHING has helped in the slightest! Not even a little bit – but I appreciate the chance to vent! I hope you slather this – and Google’s being stumped by the repair of their own App Store – All over the inter-webs!!! Perhaps SHAMING them into fixing it will work! It couldn’t hurt!
