It is that time of the year when the various time of interesting analysis reports in the mobile industry starts coming in. The more interesting question is that which smartphone was the highest selling in the first half of 2016.
The answer to that is not at all shocking; it is none other than Samsung’sGalaxy S7 Edge. The handset which was launched along with flagship Galaxy S7 at MWC event this year is the top selling Android smartphone of the first half of this year. Samsung has shipped 13.3 million units of it’s edge screen enabled smartphone, which accounts for 2% of overall Android smartphone shipment worldwide in H1 2016.
According to the reports coming in from Strategy Analytics, the Global shipment of Android smartphone saw growth of 5% when compared to 552.3 million units in H1 of last year, i.e. 2015. Considering there are lots of smartphones launched who were touted as the best Android smartphone of the year but no other brands came close to beating the number of S7 Edge. In fact, Samsung has two more devices in the top selling Android smartphone list compiled by people at Strategy Analytics. The other two handsets are Galaxy J2, which is at number second position, while Galaxy S7 is at number three position.
It is quite surprising that total 13 million units of J2 have been sold for the first half of this year. The firm doesn’t specify if it’s a 2015 or 2016 model because 2016 variant was launched in July. Nonetheless, the numbers are impressive for the low-end specs device.
