Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the sensational duo, from Samsung that were unveiled to the world at the unpacked event during the Mobile World Congress are coming to India before they arrive on the shore of the United States.
Samsung India has revealed that both the smartphone will be available for purchase from 8th of this month. While the phone will not be available in the united states before 11th, some carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T have already shipped the phones to customers who pre-ordered the devices as a token of appreciation.
The decision to bring the Galaxy S7 to India before the United States launch indicate how important the Indian market is for Samsung where it still reigns supremacy in terms of smartphone sales.
While this is true for Samsung, India has become a market that Apple can no longer afford to ignore. With the first ever decline in the iPhone sales looming close to its throat, Apple has reportedly built a model of its phone called as the iPhone SE especially for the Indian market.
This iPhone SE will be positioned as a mid-ranged device that will cost around 25,000 to 30,000 inr. Samsung wants to steal the thunder by bringing in the powerhouse phones before Apple has a chance to announce the phone at its march 21st event.
“Samsung will have a lot more competition this time, with the rumoured iPhone 5Se coming in the time of the year when Apple is usually slow, and LG’s G5 and Xiaomi’s Mi 5, which are going to be aggressive in terms of pricing and positioning,” said Tarun Pathak, senior analyst, Counterpoint Research.
“Samsung will also have to arrest its declining average sale prices, so they should not be pricing the flagship devices very high and then correcting them later on, and lose out on customers in the meantime,” Pathak said.
The Galaxy S7 is believed to be priced around 50,000 to 60,000 inr which is a bit on the higher side. Stay tuned for more info.
