If you are a Verizon customer and own a Galaxy S7, then there are high chances that you won’t be liking the latest update pushed over the air. This update contains some ugly surprises that have the potential to ruin your entire smartphone experience by installing unwanted apps that the carrier would kill to place them on your home screen. Even uglier part is that most of the customers do not know that this app installs other unnecessary bloatware without their knowledge. If you try to uninstall such useless app, then they would be reinstalled once the device is rebooted.
The infamous app is called as DT Ignite.it give unprecedented control of your device to the carrier who can install any app that they deemed right. This app usually runs in the background and there would be fewer chances for you to know if the app is actually installed. this application in the past installed bloatware apps such as my Verizon wireless and other apps that no one uses.
When contacted, Verizon representative did confirm that the DT ignite app is included in the latest update but promised that the users will not immediately see any unwanted app in their phone. this indicates that Verizon has plans to install this bloatware sometime in the future and DT ignite will install such apps if the device is factory restored or if it enters initial setup stage.
Verizon did not mention what apps it plans to install on the devices but did mention that the users will have the option to uninstall if they find them useless. if you want DT ignite to stop function, disabling it is the only solution as of now. You can do this by going to settings> Applications> Application Manager. Select list loads and go to More> Show system apps. Search for the DT ignite app and disable it to stop it from functioning in the background.
