I somehow managed to miss the memo earlier this month when Fuse Powered Inc. released its first Android game on the Google Play Store.
In case you missed it too, Jaws Revenge, based on the 1975 Steven Spielberg horror/thriller classic, is available for smartphones and tablets running Android 2.2 or greater. Even more exciting, the game is available for free, so there’s no excuse not to try it.
Jaws Revenge is a side-to-side platform game, in which you are Jaws — the colossal great white shark that terrorized Amity Island — and your mission is to eat as many fish, swimmers, sunbathers, seagulls, windsurfers, boats as possible while swimming and jumping your way through levels.
The controls are simple. You only need one finger to play, as you basically just touch, hold, and release the screen to make Jaws jump towards his prey. Don’t let that fool you though, because this one is all about timing. If you don’t have any, you’re not going to get far.
There are four worlds, with 40 levels of gameplay. You can upgrade your shark to make him the baddest monster in the sea, as well as collect coins and license plates along the way. For a little extra-added carnage, you can hit Frenzy Mode and really kick things up a notch.
The game plays great on both my Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy S III, but I’m curious as to how it runs on some of the older devices out there. If you own one, be sure to let us know after you try it out.
As far as fun-factor, I’m thinking this one will be another “amusing for a while, but not for long” title. I’m still going to give it a 4/5 rating though, just because I’m a huge fan of Jaws, and the game itself is pretty amusing.
The download weighs in at a friendly 24MB, so there’s nothing to worry about here unless you really don’t have much data to spare in your monthly plan. Hit up the download link below and check it out for yourself!
