Tons of new games launch on a weekly basis, but it’s neat to actually talk to the developers when they’re launching a new game. Monster Legacy hit the App Store this week, and we got to sit down with the creators, OutPlay Entertainment, during GDC. The result of their hard work is Monster Legacy, which is essentially Pokemon for iOS, complete with all of the facets that make Pokemon stand out. You begin with your first lovable monster, and from their set off on an adventure composed of exploring distant lands, battling monsters, and capturing new monsters to use for battle later on. Each monster battle offers a turn based style with basic, or magic attacks at your disposal, and you try to weaken your enemy enough to then attempt to capture it. There are 20 unique locations to explore, each with three missions, and their own set of unique monsters. There are also keeper battles, monsters hiding in the tall grass, and magical abilities to pick up along the way. You can evolve your monsters into new states, as well as manage a monster ranch.
Monster Legacy (Free, Universal) looks like Pokemon, plays like Pokemon, and you can see it ’N Action in our latest gameplay video. The game is also free to play with gems purchasable that come up in a lot of scenarios whether it’s using a special power, providing more successful monster traps, healing your monsters, evolving your monsters, and more.
