GDC can be quite overwhelming, but that makes games like Gathering Sky stand out that much more. Gathering Sky is an upcoming atmospheric adventure that lets you focus on just flying through the air at your own pace. It’s a game that can help you relax in a storm of information. Gathering Sky doesn’t have timers, objectives, or specific challenges, and instead lets the player decide how they want to proceed. The obvious focus is to drag your finger to steer your bird across the sky, always on the look out to find other birds to join your flock.
Gathering Sky isn’t just an endless relaxing experience, as there are actual levels. Each level is connected with a different emotion, and that is most poignantly presented with a deluxe soundtrack. The game’s 45 minute musical score was recorded at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and does a great job of further immersing you in the experience. The developers are planning to launch the game in April at a premium $2 or $3 price.
Gathering Sky is a game that you can get lost in, and you can check it out in our hands-on gameplay video direct from GDC with the developer walking us through it. Stay tuned for its release.
