Knights of Pen & Paper first launched way back in October of 2012 to deliver an intriguing RPG adventure. The game is bursting with style and personality thanks to a game within a game set-up as you play a group of teenagers playing a classic pen & paper tabletop RPG. The gameplay revolves around playing as both the in-game characters and the dungeon master to let players decide which battles to fight. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 was shown at GDC, and it’s the upcoming sequel that maintains the theme of the original, while greatly building upon it.
The sequel still delivers the game within a game idea, while maintaining the retro pixel art style, and turn based dice rolling J-RPG action. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 focuses on delivering a new rules edition that lets the original band of teenagers set all new rules. There’s also a brand new campaign, which is set to deliver about the same extensive content as the original. The graphics have been bumped up from 8-bit to 16-bit, and that is seen in new pixel-art locations, dynamically generated dungeon raids, and some new character classes.
Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is set to launch on iOS on May 14th. The creators, Paradox Interactive, are also working on Magika 2, though no plans to port it to iOS, or create a sequel to Magika: wizard of the Square Tablet.
