Hangouts is Google’s version of a messaging app which works on multiple platforms and is provided to every Gmail user by default. If you’re a Hangouts user and use an iDevice, you definitely want to update the app right now.
The app is now fully optimized for the iPad as well as other devices running iOS 7.0 or newer. The interface was given a redesign and now fits the look and feel of the operating system. It is flat and minimal, with plenty of smooth transitions and impressive animations. Speaking of things that move, with the new version of the Hangouts app you can now insert animated stickers into messages – something which has proved popular in other messaging apps. Other new features include an ability to record and send 10-seconds long video and location sharing.
It’s good to see Google working on its apps for a competitive platform. We’re particularly glad to see iPad support as it is something users have been asking for months and puts it ahead of the competition. We hope Google has more up its sleeve, but before we find out what it is, we should all download the new version of Hangouts from the AppStore.
