Hundreds of millions of iOS users enjoy Google Maps on their iOS devices despite the availability of Apple’s own mapping solution, so updates to the Google Maps app are generally a pretty big deal. Let’s take a look at everything Google added in this most recent update.
In addition to the standard “bug fixes” line item, Google’s change log for Google Maps includes the following five updates:
See where you’re going before you leave with a Street View thumbnail on the map (for address search or tap-and-hold on map)
View the custom maps you created using Google My Maps
Easily share your opinion about places you’ve been with an improved review-writing flow
New Google Maps logo
Added support for six new languages
The six new languages Google added weren’t detailed in the change log, but here’s a list of all languages that are currently supported by the iOS version of Google Maps: English, Arabic, Bokmål, Norwegian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
