The rumors/speculation about who will make the next Google Nexus phone continues.
For most of the year the main contender to be the Nexus 5 OEM was LG. But recently, a source with a pretty good track record said that Motorola is planning to release next Nexus phone in Q4.
Today, a new set of rumors from Korea claim again , that its LG who will be making the new Google Nexus device. And we even get some details about it.
The design of the next LG’s Nexus device should be pretty similar to the G2, but in order to keep the prices down, the specs of Nexus 5 will be lower. Snapdragon 800 CPU is out, replaced with Snapdragon 600 chip, 2 GB of RAM and 10 megapixel camera instead of G2’s 13 mpx. This will allow LG to keep the price tiers of the NX5 at Nexus 4 levels – $299 for 8GB version and $349 for 16GB.
So what about Motorola’s Nexus 5? Who knows.
Maybe Google will do both. Maybe it will do just Moto Nexus this year, and LG rumors are wrong. Maybe Moto Nexus rumors are. Last year we also had some speculation that Google is planning multiple OEM versions of Nexus phones. But that turned out to be the Google Editions of Samsung and HTC flagships. Maybe it’s what we have here. Or not.
We wouldn’t know until Google is ready to announce Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. But speculation is still fun, isn’t it?
