Today I am looking at a kids app: Lets play with DingDong, from from Korean developer (lidee.kr). This app shows potential but right now is a bit rough.
The game is available for both Android and iOS. (I reviewed the app on my Android phone.) When you first open the app you will need to allow it to download quite a bit of content in the background.
The game is setup to help kids have fun with words, numbers, and primarily music. The game is broken up into seven areas:
Instruments Star Sign- here kids will count with a connect the dots to reveal a musical instrument. The numbers and word is spoken so kids can see and hear the word.
Instrument World – here kids can play 23 different instruments
Sing a Long – here kids will play 15 different songs; the first one is unlocked but the rest can be unlocked via a subscription.
Playing Song – here kids can play 10 different songs on a piano along with the; it is color coded to help the kids follow along.
Musical Fish- here kids can arrange musical notes on then page and then have it played back to them.
DouDou House- here you can see their current inventory
Store – here kids can purchase items to customize DouDou; you get 1000 coins and earn more as you play.
As I mentioned, there is potential in the game. The graphics are not bad and the games are cute. There is a bit to do and should keep most preschoolers occupied for a while. There a few things that need to be improved in the game to make it better:
There are no directions and I think parents would like some more info on the game
There is a reference to a subscription but nothing else
The game is a bit lagy and there is quite a bit of extra downloads to endure
The app title needs to be changed (something got lost in the translation)
