PAWTUCKET, United States - In a recent ruling an US federal judge gave tablet maker Asus a green light to sell its Transformer Prime tablets.
The ruling was initiated by toy making company Hasbro against Asus’ line of Transformer tablets based on the trademark rights that Hasbro has over the toys and movies featuring the Transformers characters.
The court ruling itself is an interesting document combining technical data with reviews of the toys, the animated series and movies. The judge, however, sees no connection between the Transformers story and the tablets of Asus. The way that the tablets are build even makes the judge to confirm that the way the word “transformer” is used is completely correct and realistic.
In the ruling amongst other things are reviewed and pre-orders of the Transformer Prime tablet, which state only 2 000 orders until the end of February and a total of 80 000 planned until May 2012.
