A new app launched last week, that looks interesting. It is called Snupps and it stands for Serial Number Universal Protection Protocol System. Sounds pretty impressive huh?
So what exactly does it do? Snupps provides its users a simple way to organize and socialize around the stuff they own, either on the web or via their iOS device(s). Snupps basically is an electronic, personal inventory. When we first got married, I took photos of all our stuff and placed it in the fireproof box as a way to document what we had just in case of an emergency. Well times have changed and now everything is electronic.
Keep track of your valuables and belongings via a patent-pending, intuitive user interface including a drag and drop feature that makes it easy and convenient for anyone to use
Showcase your collections on virtual shelves and check out others’ stuff –follow, comment and ‘wow’ items or shelves that you like; you can even rate your own stuff
Store all your valuables and sentimental items in one place and know where it is at all times – pick a privacy option that suits you, but know that Snupps is private-by-default
“Take your stuff everywhere”
This is not a bad idea. My first thought though was, why not use something like Evernote? So I asked the developer that question. Here is their response:
“Evernote focuses on documents (health and recipes), notes (reminders and lists) and business (charts and sharing documents). It doesn’t offer the features you need for capturing and organizing all your possessions.
Snupps is targeting a new market space, one that allows people to organize and socialize around the stuff they own and cherish. Currently, there are no other players in this market that do this, but there are a number of companies offering something similar, however, they still lack comparable offerings.”
After you log into the site you can begin organizing your stuff. You will need to build a shelf to put it on. Each shelf can be made private or public. There are quite a few public shelves. It is sort of like Pinterest for stuff. If you want, you can show off what you have to others such as my vintage comic books, my outfits, my Star Wars toys, etc. You can follow these too so you can see how their collection grows.
The app is pretty much like the website in its layout and format. It is a bit easier to add photos and items using the app but either way will work. Overall I like the idea of an electronic filling system for my stuff; makes it easy to keep track of valuable in case of an emergency. I will be curious to see how this app/service grows but right now they seem to be off to a good start.
