Life is Strange is an upcoming, story-driven game that hinges on player choice and consequence. It’s coming from Square Enix and developer Dontnod (they made Capcom’s ill-fated and ironically titled Remember Me a few years back).
Today, we have the first 20 minutes of Life is Strange as it appears on the PlayStation 4. The video comes from YouTube channel consolewarsofficial. Man, that opening bit in the dark with the light house really, really, really reminds me of Alan Wake. Maybe I’m alone on that front, who knows.
As far as the game itself goes, well, I’m not really sure yet. This video does a great job illustrating how the moment-to-moment stuff works. We can tell that the title has a solid art style, sometimes awkward sound design and some seemingly interesting choice making, but 20 minutes is far too short to make a real decision about a title so steeped in narrative goo.
If we have time to review this one, we will.
Life is Strange is an episodic affair, with releases roughly slated at six week intervals. It’s bound for the PlayStation 4 (obviously), PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
