Nokia’s HERE Maps team is indeed pretty busy at work updating the HERE Maps apps for a variety of mobile devices. It was just yesterday that they announced an update for Windows 8.1 devices and now we here that an update for the Nokia X platform is here as well.
The update is a big one indeed, similar to the Windows 8.1 update that was rolled out yesterday. Users can now get access to global navigation capabilities along with voice directions for the same. The long process of accessing those maps have now been simplified as well by excluding all those pointless wizards that will get you distracted when all you need to know is where to go.
Also you no longer get that blank screen after launching the app. The HERE Maps team has finally put up a status box describing that your Nokia X2 is ‘downloading data, the map will appear shortly’. Offline maps are also a ‘go’ with this update meaning that you will no longer need to connect to the Internet for directions. Satellite imagery has also improved by leaps and bounds in the form clearer and faster loading images for your Nokia X device.
One thing to note here is that the Nokia X2 will be the first device to see this update followed by the rest of older range of X devices.
