The second big announcement from Motorola today takes form in a rather modestly price package. Of course, we’re talking about the new Moto G2. First, to the specs:
5″ 720p Display
1.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
8GB Internal Storage
microSD Card Slot
2MP Front Facing Camera
2070 mAh Battery
More or less what we’d expect from a budget phone but as we saw with the original Moto G, specs aren’t everything. The original Moto G was buttery smooth despite it’s lower end hardware and I expect the exact same “over the top performance from limited hardware” with the slightly more powerful sequel. Motorola also upped the screen size and MP count and added dual front facing speakers and expandable storage. Like the original Moto G, you also get those fun swappable backs and this time around Motorola has made a flip cover as well.
Now for the good stuff, the price. Motorola will sell the Moto G2 for the exact same price as the original Moto G. That means that in the US you’ll pay $179 for an unlocked non contract phone. Here in Canada we’ll likely see it come in around $200! No word on who’ll be picking it up but I expect it’ll hit multiple carriers again.
