The OnePlus One is one of the best smartphones we’ve seen so far this year, but the young company’s confusing invitation system has made it all but impossible to get your hands on the device. Thankfully OnePlus is starting to offer more and more units to the public, and this week the company is giving away 5,000 invitations for the new phone in its biggest lottery yet.
To grab an invite you’ll have to do a few simple tasks, with each earning you one entry in the lottery. You can post a message to the OnePlus forum, or follow the company on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for one point each. The contest ends on July 23 at 9:15 Eastern time, at which point the company will pick out 5,000 invite winners who will be able to order the new smartphone for themselves.
The OnePlus One offers a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, a 13-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 3100mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 64GB of storage. It also runs CyanogenMod 11s, which is a big part of the device’s allure. Overall it’s a great smartphone that’s easily on par with the Galaxy S5 or LG G3 for about half the price.
The contest already has over 70,000 entries though, so you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up. Then again, it can’t hurt to try.
