Honor is Huawei’s sub brand, which is one of the world’s top smartphone manufacturer, and it is also the most popular smartphone brand in its home country of China. Honor on the other hand, has been on a roll this year, having released quite a number of new smartphones, and the firm has also entered the US market with the Honor 5X and its flagship device, the Honor 8. It has been almost a year since the company launched the Honor 5X, and it is time for a successor. With that, Honor announced a press event to launch the Honor 6X on October 18 in China. However, the Honor 6X will not be the only device which the company will be launching on that date, as a image which teases the Honor S1, has emerged.
Honor’s official account on Weibo has released an Honor S1 teaser image, which indicates that the company is gearing up to release a new smartwatch. The teaser shows a round watch face with the S1 logo in the center of it. At the bottom of the teaser, the numbers “10.18” can be seen, which indicates the launch date of the device. The Honor S1 will be the firm’s first smartwatch, but it won’t be their first smart wearable, as the company had released a couple of smart bands in the past, the Honor Band Z1 and the Honor Band SS, both of which are priced pretty competitively.
Honor’s parent company, on the other hand, has released a smartwatch recently, the Huawei Watch, which packs a 1.4-inch AMOLED display and under the hood, it comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It also runs on Android Wear. However, specs of the upcoming Honor S1 is unknown at the moment, and it is also not known whether it will be running on Android Wear. Pricing information and availability of the upcoming smartwatch has not been released yet, but all will be unveiled in a weeks time, on October 18th. While details surrounding the smartwatch are still sketchy at the moment, it is likely that specs of the wearable will be leaked in the coming days, so stay tuned for that.
