With iOS 5.x, notifications had a complete remake. The old and somewhat intruding and demanding notifications were gone and the taskbar (notification bar) was bestowed with more powers. While the notification center is as good as it can get, there is no limit to what you can achieve through jailbreak.
The NCDate is a simple feature that you can add to your Notification Center. It shows nothing more but the time and the date. As simple as it can get.
There’s nothing special about NCDate but the simplicity. We often seem to forget the date? Not anymore. The NCDate is a totally unobtrusive, small and tiny application downloadable from Cydia which adds to the Notification Center seamlessly.
Add a Date and Time Widget to the iOS 5 Notification Center on iPhone
Head over to Cydia.
Search for “NCDate” -this is available on the BigBoss repo, so if the repo is not added to Cydia by default (which it usually is), you will need to add the repo and then search.
Now, just head over to Settings -> Notifications -> Set the toggle to ON for the NCDate app.
How is this Useful?
With the new type of notifications coming up, we have almost all the notifications on the Notification Center. Weather, new mail, social notifications, and almost everything goes here. So we find ourselves pulling down the notification center a lot.
It is perhaps, with this in mind that the NCDate developers chose to create the app. The app is a simple and easy way to view current date and time quickly, without having to open up the calendar.
