Your colleague is sat at the desk next to you, tap tap tapping their pencil to the rhythm of the music pumping out of their headphones. The air conditioning unit is making a weird clunking sound at random intervals. Somewhere on the other side of the office, someone's coming down with a cold and is breaking into mad sneezing fits about, oh, every 4 minutes. And your boss wants that report like yesterday.
Sound familiar? Sometimes it's just impossible to concentrate on the task in hand when you're constantly distracted by the noises, comings and goings and general hubbub around you.
If only you could drown it all out and work in your own peaceful little bubble.
Noisli is a beautifully minimalist app that allows you to focus on the tasks at hand by providing realistic and natural background noises and ambient color lighting. It works wherever you are - from a crowded bus to your office desk. Mix your very own sounds to find your own little corner of zen when you really need to block out the annoying sounds around you.
2. Tap on each of the sound icons to preview, select, and mix different ambient noises: from the gentle buzz of a coffee shop, to the sweeping ebb and flow of the tide.
3. Keep adding multiple noises until you've found the combination you're looking for. Slide the volume of each sound from left to right to get the balance just right. When you're happy with your mix, swipe left to the first screen and add it to your 'Combos', naming it so you can head straight to it for next time.
4. Tap on the clock icon to set a timer for your sound mix to eventually stop, from a minute to 23 hours and 53 minutes (to be precise!). Tap start when you're ready to go, and select to fade out (with the fade out length) if you want it to peter out rather than end abruptly. You can also pause at any time.
5. Enjoy the periodically changing ambient color themes, and work in peace with the peaceful sounds you'd rather be listening to.
