It’s useful to know which version of the iOS software you are running and here’s some ways to do it
Do you know what version of iOS is installed on your iPhone or iPad? Of course you don't – that's why you're here. Fortunately, finding out what version of iOS you iPhone or iPad is running is very, very simple. It's also handy to know whether you're running the latest and greatest build (at present that's iOS 7, although iOS 8 will launch during Q4).
Here's a few simple methods for finding out what version of iOS you iPhone or iPad is running:
On Your Device
On your iPhone or iPad press the Settings app. It’s a grey cog icon and from inside there you should then find the section under General. Once you’ve found all that you’ll be able to find the heading About.
Under About it will state which version of the iOS software you’re currently running.
Or Through iTunes
There is another way. Once you’ve got iTunes installed on your computer, connect up the device you’re using and boot up the program on your computer. It’ll then appear in the right window of iTunes. Press on the device and then there will be a Summery or Settings tab depending on what kind of device you have.
It’ll then state your software version there. Underneath it’ll also prompt you to look for another update to see if there is a newer version of the software. If there is you’ll be prompted to download it directly to your device, be sure to do this but you’ll need a little bit of time so don’t do it if you’re in a rush.
