The “Unfortunately, Cocktailbar service has stopped” error on Galaxy S6 Edge actually stirred the community a bit considering there’s no app called “cocktailbar.” In this post, I will tackle about this issue and guide you through fixing it.
Other error messages I will help you deal with are “Unfortunately, Smart Remote has stopped” and “Unfortunately, PeopleStrip has stopped.” These apps or services don’t crash for no reason at all; you must have done something to your phone that made them go nuts. But the consolation is you can easily fix these crashes.

Now, back to the problems, here are some of the error messages you may encounter if you own an S6 Edge.
Problem: I am so pissed off with my new Galaxy S6 Edge. It’s just 3 days old and I am still in the process of setting it up, downloading apps, organizing my Home screen, etc., and I already got this error message, “Unfortunately, Cocktailbar service has stopped.” I’m not really savvy but I tried checking the applications manager and see if I’ve installed an app called cocktailbar and there’s nothing that suggests likewise. I actually uninstalled most of the apps I already installed in hopes that this error may go away but it’s still happening. I’m at a loss here now so I need your help guys. How can I get rid of this error message?
Related Problem: Hello. I just received my second Galaxy S6 Edge after the first one died on me without apparent reason. The representative told me it’s a brand new phone because I was still covered with the replacement period when the previous unit quit working. I haven’t done anything with the phone just yet, I only tweaked some settings in it and then I received the error message “Unfortunately, Cocktailbar service has stopped.” The funny thing is I only installed Facebook app in it so it’s not an app or something. What the heck is the cocktailbar service and why is it stopping? I understand it’s really a serious problem but it’s very annoying. Do I have to get a new unit for this one? Help me, please. — Ralph
Troubleshooting: It’s not a really common problem but many actually emailed us about it. The Cocktailbar service isn’t installed as an independent app on your phone but a service used by some themes. Majority of reports we received mentioned the Space Odyssey being the cause of this problem, although there were others who said the same error occurs with downloaded themes. Those reports confirm the claim that the error message is caused by using themes that may need an update.
I understand why you want to use different themes other than the default but if you’re having a problem like this, it’s better you revert back to the default theme or use a different one that doesn’t trigger this error. To revert back to default, go to Settings > Themes and choose the default theme or a different one.
As of this writing, there’s no other workaround that could address this problem. If there would be updates in the future, maybe this bug would be addressed. But for now, try to use other themes that may still change the way your phone looks but won’t trigger this error.
Unfortunately, Smart Remote has stopped
Problem: About three days ago, I opened Smart Remote on my Galaxy S6 Edge just to try how it works and all that. It actually worked with my Sharp TV so I was happy. Yesterday, there was an error message that popped up telling me “Unfortunately, Smart Remote has stopped” and when I hit OK it disappeared and I thought it ended there. It didn’t. Today, I encountered the error message again and this time it keeps popping up about every hour or so. I hate myself for ever using the app when I have a full-blown remote for my TV. How can I get rid of this error? Is there something wrong with my phone? Thank you for the time.
Related Problem: There is a window in my phone that keeps coming out very often and it says something like smart remote stopped working unfortunately. I don’t know what that is or what it’s all about. My phone is Galaxy S6 Edge given by my son and while it’s a good-looking phone, it’s giving me all the hiccups considering I am technologically-challenged. I need your help on this please. There are times when I’m trying to send a text message that this error pop up. It’s very, very annoying and it makes my phone run slow when it pops up. How can I prevent the message from coming out?
Troubleshooting: Honestly, we don’t know why this app crashes from time to time after it has been setup, so we really can’t explain exactly what’s happening. Maybe it’s just a bug with the Smart Remote service or maybe it’s an issue with the firmware and perhaps an update will fix it. But there are two workaround to this problem. If you’re currently bugged by this issue, follow one of the steps below to get rid of the error message:
Reset Smart Remote
This procedure will delete all of the remote you’ve setup and it’s an effective way to address the problem.
Open Smart Remote app.
Tap the More options icon (three dots) on the upper-right.
Touch Settings and scroll to the bottom.
Touch Reset Smart Remote.
Clear Cache & Data of Smart Remote
This procedure resets the Smart Remote to factory defaults like it hasn’t been setup before.
From any Home screen, tap Apps.
Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
Swipe right to the ALL screen.
Scroll to and tap Smart Remote.
Tap Clear cache.
Tap Clear data button, then OK.
Unfortunately, PeopleStrip has stopped
Problem: For some reason, there’s this error I keep receiving randomly no matter what I do. It says, “Unfortunately, PeopleStrip has stopped” and I don’t know what it means in the first place. Secondly, I haven’t done anything that may have triggered it as all I do with my phone is text, call and tweet. I’m old and not really fond of technology but my daughter gave me this phone (Galaxy S6 Edge) for Christmas and she said everything has been setup and I think it was until this error started to appear. I hope you guys can email me about this problem and provide a solution. Thank you! — Marie
Related Problem: Do you guys know what PeopleStrip is? I have encountered an error just today saying it unfortunately stopped. Okay, my phone is an S6 Edge and it’s barely a couple of months old. It’s not really causing much of a trouble but with this error message, I know something is wrong with the phone and I don’t want that my brand-new, expensive device is not free of errors. If you could help me fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Troubleshooting: The PeopleStrip is a service used by the People Edge app, which is responsible in handling commands you make through the Edge screen on the right. You know, that little, curved screen that displays select contacts.
The error message pops up if there’s one slot not filled with a contact after you set up People Edge, although, not all the time you’ll encounter this problem. So, it’s probably just a glitch with the app and an update may fix it. That said, to address this problem, you need to assign a contact to fill up the empty slot and yes, that’s all you need to do.
