Connectivity issues are among the most common problems we received from Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (#Samsung #GalaxyS6Edge) owners since its release. There are two basic ways to connect and that’s via Wi-Fi or mobile data. In this post, I will address issues related to the latter.
There’s one important thing you need to remember if you’re bringing along your device from one provider to another; it needs to be reconfigured to be able to get service from the new provider. You need to call tech support and get your device provisioned. If you’re bringing along your phone number, you need to wait 24 to 48 hours for the porting to complete.
But aside from provisioning and porting, there’s one thing you need to do–to set the APN correctly so the phone can connect seamlessly with your new provider. You can request assistance from tech support or you can just ask for the correct APN and set it up yourself. Continue reading below for problems you might encounter in the future.
If you have other issues and need further assistance, contact us by completing this questionnaire. This is a free service we offer. We won’t ask for anything but sufficient information about the problem. We will do our part the best we can if you do your part by telling us in details what the issue is all about.
You may also browse for problems we already addressed before and use the existing solutions that apply to your concern. You can find hundreds of problems from our S6 Edge troubleshooting page.
ATT Galaxy S6 Edge mobile data not working on T-Mobile network
Problem: I just bought a new galaxy s6 edge and my data kind of doesn’t work. It works perfectly in ultra power saving mode and a little bit sometimes when the device is being turned on. It just doesn’t work when ‘m using the device normally though. I’ve tried clearing the device cache and booting in safe mode and neither worked. The only thing I can think of is that I haven’t tried replacing the SIM card and the phone is an AT&T model that I’m using on a T-Mobile network. Calls and text work fine and wi-fi works fine as well it’s just the data.
Troubleshooting: Aside from having the device provisioned, which is usually done by your provider’s tech support, it has to be reconfigured to be able to connect to the data network and get service.
Your device isn’t originally a T-Mobile variant so it wasn’t natively set to connect to its network. A new Access Point Name (APN) must be created bearing T-Mobile’s settings so you can have internet connection via mobile data. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen and tap Settings.
Step 2: Under the “Connections” section, tap on Mobile networks and touch Access Point Names.
Step 3: Touch the More icon and then choose New APN and enter these values (fields not included here must be left as is):
Enable/disableAPN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN’s>
Step 4: After making sure everything is set properly, touch Save.
Step 5: You may now set the new APN you created to be the default profile.
If you still have issues with your phone after doing this, then you need to contact T-Mobile and seek assistance.
Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge mobile data not working on Reliance network
Problem: I have one Galaxy S6 Edge Verizon mobile unlocked. Bought it from the USA. Now I connected with Reliance CDMA connection and all things are working well but not the internet. Please guide me to do so.
Troubleshooting: It’s basically just the same problem as the first so I want you to follow the steps in creating a new APN but instead of using T-Mo’s, use these:
Name : Reliance Net
APN : rcomnet or smartnet
Proxy : <Not Set>
Port : <Not Set>
Username : <Not Set>
Password : <Not Set>
Server : <Not Set>
MMSC : <Not Set>
MMSProxy : <Not Set>
MMSPort : <Not Set>
MCC : 404
MNC : 013
Authenticationtype : <Not Set> or PAP
APNType : internet
There’s a chance that you couldn’t create a new APN considering the device is a CDMA variant, in this case you need to call Reliance and request for assistance.
S6 Edge can’t get internet connection from Simple Mobile
Problem: I’m using Simple Mobile and can’t connect to the internet using their data. I can only connect to Wi-Fi. I tried to set APN according to their settings, plus other settings from Google. Customer service was no good either. Nothing works, please help. Thanks!
Answer: If this problem already existed since day 1, then you have no other options but to call your service provider about it. However, if it started just recently, there’s a chance Simple Mobile changed its APN settings and everything you found online aren’t correct. Still, you need to call your provider and inquire about the correct APN.
S6 Edge can get messages but not internet
Problem: I have data plan in my S6 Edge, I can get notifications and messages through the data pack which I had but I cannot browse through mobile data. Please send me manual settings to fix it.
Answer: I assume that you are referring to MMS messages because text messages don’t actually matter in this conversation. If you can use data in sending and receiving MMS or picture messages, then you’ll have to check the APN for the internet. Remember that MMS and Internet have different settings. You may follow the instructions in the first problem and use your provider’s APN settings. If all else fails, call your provider as they can help you better with it.
