Camera is one of the top three functions for smartphone users along with calls and internet and is one of those features that can either attract or send away customers.
Now as people have started to use smartphone cameras all the time even in situations where they previously used digital cameras, people have become much more demanding when it comes to smartphone camera features.
People now expect high quality shots even in low light while others want cameras that are capable of taking good photos while on the move. Apart from this smartphone users are constantly sharing pictures and there is a rise in social media.
So with all these factors in play, Samsung decided to come up with a camera for the Galaxy S6 that would more than satisfy all the user needs.
Keeping in mind the increasing trend of taking selfies Samsung, in order to meet consumer demand kept the size of the image sensor of the front camera on the Galaxy S6 1.4 times larger in size as compared to the Galaxy S5 and even the Galaxy Note 4.
The camera resolution is of 5 megapixels which is also greater than the previous models. This is the first time that the South Korean company has enlarged the sensors.
Until now the manufacturer has only been increasing the resolution while it kept minimizing the sensor in order to keep the smartphones lighter and thinner. However according to Samsung this time the company focused on gaining resolution with bigger sensors.
Even though Samsung increased the camera sensor size it was able to maintain its overall thinness. Moreover as the rear camera could not be increased without making them thicker, the camera built the rear camera lens with a lowered f-value (aperture value).
The Galaxy S6 is capable of taking high quality dark shots as well as bright shots since it has the ability to gather more light in the same situation with the improved aperture value. Along with this the shutter speed is quicker and the software algorithm has been improved in order to provide photographs with higher definition.
Apart from these features the Galaxy S6 is also the first to apply Auto Real-time HDR (High Dynamic Range) on both its front and rear cameras. The HDR helps overcome many limitations such as it merges images with different luminance into one.
The Auto Real-time HRD also allows a real-time adjustment of light and dark spots for a balanced result. Plus its real worth is felt while filming videos as it efficiently adjusts various levels of brightness while filming in different spaces.
Furthermore Samsung also kept in mind that many users do not have expert level knowledge of all the features of the camera. So the Galaxy S6 allows the users to take high quality pictures at any time by simply pressing the shutter and do not have to worry about any background factors or conditions.
Then there is the Pro Mode which is a feature for those users who want to control specific camera settings and is there to satisfy those users who have professional knowledge over cameras.
