I recently discussed what I believe is the best facet of the Galaxy S6: the camera quick-launch gesture. This brilliant feature allows you to launch your camera app simply by double tapping the home screen. Now I’m going to show you how to get the Galaxy S6 camera quick-launch feature on any phone.
Firstly you need to install the Home2 Shortcut app from the Play Store. It works with any device running Android 1.6 and works perfectly whether using a physical home button (like on a Galaxy device) or a capacitive one.. Once it’s downloaded and installed, open the app and do the following at each of the steps.
Step one: tap Choose Application, then Installed Applications and select Camera
Step two: you can select the double tap interval speed. This is the speed at which the app recognizes the home key has been pressed twice. For me, it feels good at “very very short”, but it’s personal preference.
Step three: Select your regular HOME app (if you’re using a Galaxy S5, for example, this might be “TouchWiz Home”. On an Xperia Z3, it’s likely “Xperia Home”.)
Step four: tap the Close button and at the prompt select Home2 Shortcut.
And you’re done. Now when you quickly tap your home button or key twice it will instantly launch the camera app, just like on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
There is a caveat to this feature, however: it only works when the device is unlocked. It’s a shortcut, but it doesn’t bring the whole experience of the Galaxy S6 camera quick launch. We’re still searching for a solution to that, if you find one, hit is up in the comments below.
