Let’s say you forgot to preorder the new iPad. Shipping times are currently two to three weeks, but perhaps you want one on Friday, the first day they are available. You can always go old-school and line up outside a store. Apple announced on Wednesday that its stores will open at 8 a.m. local time to sell the new iPad starting on Friday, March 16.
This doesn’t apply to all 361 of Apple’s stores, however. On Friday, Apple’s third-generation tablet will be for sale in only the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK. On March 23, the list expands to Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Radio Shack, AT&T, Verizon and Best Buy will also be selling the new iPad in the U.S. starting on Friday. Check with individual stores to see what time they plan to open that day, but be warned: Non-Apple stores have typically had much less inventory of new Apple devices to sell.
