If you purchased an iPhone app and are surprisingly underwhelmed by it, here’s how to get your money back and get a refund on iPhone apps.
Android has a fairly easy way to get a refund. You have a short window of time where you can go back into the Google Play Store and get a refund right then and there. It’s pretty easy.
However, on the iPhone, there’s no quick and easy method for getting a refund on an iPhone app that you bought. There’s no quick link where you can get your money back, which can make some users believe that you can’t get a refund on iPhone apps, but that’s not the case.
With just a bit of effort, you can get a refund on an iPhone app or even an in-app purchase, and while the process is a bit more in-depth than what it should be, it’s a fairly simple process that will get you your money back if you’re unsatisfied with an iPhone app.
Here’s how to get a refund on iPhone apps.
From Your Computer
To get a refund for a purchased iPhone app, you can do so right on your Mac or Windows machine. Simply open up iTunes to get started.
Once iTunes is open, click on your name toward in the top-right corner and then click Account Info in the drop-down menu. Enter in your Apple ID username and password and then click View Account.
Under the Purchase History section, click on See All.
At the bottom, you’ll see a list of your purchases, as well as any free app downloads that you made. The app that you want a refund for might be a part of a group of apps in the list. Simply click the arrow on the left side for the group that the app is in. Or if it was recent purchase, you can simply click on Report a Problem next to the app you want a refund for at the top.
On the next screen, click on Report a Problem and then click on Report a Problem again next to the individual app that you want a refund on.
You’ll be taken to Apple’s website where you’ll have to login again. From there, you’ll select a specific problem and then explain your problem in the text box. If you were unsatisfied with the app, just say that were you unsatisfied and want a refund. Then click Submit.
After this, you’ll just have to wait for Apple’s response. Keep in mind that refunds are far from guaranteed, though, so don’t expect a refund 100% of the time.
From Your iPhone
If you’re looking for a more convenient method that you can go through right on your iPhone, here it is.
Simply go to Apple’s Report a Problem webpage in Safari in your iPhone. You’ll need to login using your Apple ID username and password, but after that you’ll see a list of iPhone apps that you’ve purchased.
Simply tap on Report next to the one that you want a refund on.
On the next page, select a specific reason and type out a quick explanation for your requested refund. After you’re finished, tap Submit.
After that, an “iTunes support advisor” will contact you within 48 hours to answer your request. Again, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get a refund, but the company is usually pretty good about it, as long as you don’t abuse it and ask for refunds all the time.
Apple will usually go through your request to see if a refund is necessary, and if it is, you’ll have no problem getting your money back.
