When you buy a print book, you can lend it to anyone for as long as you want. It’s not that easy with ebooks. Despite limitations, there is still a possibility to do that. In this short post I’ll share how to loan ebooks from your personal Kindle library.
In your Kindle account at Amazon, on a list of your purchased ebooks, click on Actions to check if a particular book is lendable (see picture below). If yes, you’ll see Loan this title link.
Click on the link. Now you will be asked to type an email address and a name of the recipient, your name, and an optional message.
Hit Send Now button. From now on the book is loaned for 14 days. You will not be able to read it during this time. On loan status will be displayed next to its title. After 14 days, full access to the book will be back.
If the loan is not accepted by the recipient within 7 days, the book will automatically be returned to you.
Alternatively, you can borrow a book not from within your Kindle account dashboard, but from a book’s page. Right below the information about your purchase (You purchased this item on…) you’ll see Loan this book link.
