If you’re not a podcast listener or eBook reader there are two apps on Apple iOS 8 products that can really clutter up your device. Quite a few people dislike the Podcasts and iBooks Store applications sitting on their iPhone, but because it comes with the software it's assumed you can’t delete them. Not true!
Apple understands and has given the option to remove both the applications from your phone. It’s not as easy as just holding down and dragging to the bin like other apps though.
Here’s how you can delete the Podcasts and iBooks app inside iOS 8.
Find The Settings App
You know the drill, find the Settings app. It’s the grey one with a cog like icon in the centre. Open it up and head down into the General section. It’s a long list so it may take some flicking around to find.
Under General you’ll have access to a variety of different settings including Siri and what Passcode Lock you want to set up for your iPhone. Just below Passcode Lock you’ll find a section called Restrictions. Press it.
Toggle On Or Off
Under Restrictions you’ll then find an option to toggle on or off either app. Then you can decide which ones you want to turn off. If you want to keep one but not the other that’s also possible as there’s two different versions.
Check Back On Home Screen
Now you should go back to your home screen and check either the Podcasts or iBooks Store apps have disappeared. You can get the apps back at any time, just reverse this process and you’ll be able to turn them back on.
