Owners of the Sony Xperia T who are looking for a quick and easy method of gaining root access can now breathe a sigh of relief, thanks to XDA Recognized Developer Bin4ry, who released a method a while back that works for a slew of Android devices, and more specifically, devices from the Xperia lineup.
Now that he’s had a chance to test and confirm that his method works for the Xperia T, he took to the Android Development Forum for the device over on XDA to share the news. Here’s what he had to say:
I published a Root Method for 2012 line. It works on locked AND unlocked bootloader as well and is mainly 1-click only adb drivers and usb-debugging needed.
So to gain root, you’ll want to head over to the original thread and download the attached file. Then, follow the three simple steps below and you’ll be all set on that front.
Download attached file.
Extract it using 7zip
Double click the RunMe.bat and follow instructions
That it. You’ll now have root on your Sony Xperia T. Now, you’ll probably want to install a custom recovery, so you can flash custom ROM’s and things of that nature. To accomplish this, you’ll want to install the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery, which XDA Recognized Developer tilal6991 released just a few days ago.
To install CWM, head over to tilal’s original thread and pick up the recover.img file for your device. For this, you must unlock your bootloader. After you’ve done that, follow the steps below:
Download the attachment at the bottom of this post
Download fastboot and get it into a place where you can run it – I’m not going to provide instructions how – guides are all over the place
Open a command window in the place where fastboot is
Copy the recovery.img to the fastboot folder
Type fastboot flash boot recovery.img
Type fastboot reboot
You will be in CWM
Sounds pretty simple, eh? Be sure to read all the above instructions carefully before doing anything to your phone. We can’t be held responsible if you brick your device, and we’ll most likely make fun of you on Google+ if you do.
That being said, crack flash away, friends! Be sure to let us know how you’re enjoying your unlocked and rooted Xperia T!
