Every phone can take a screenshot, but the OnePlus 5 has some additional functionality built in when you do so. You can edit individual aspects of your image such as the exposure, contrast, saturation and more, and even apply Instagram-like filters to your screenshots. So how do you go about doing this? Let’s go through the process.
To actually take a screenshot on the OnePlus 5, hold the power and volume down rocker at the same time.
This will show your screenshot in the center of your display for a few seconds, in which time you can choose to edit it. When you choose this option, you’ll be brought into a special OnePlus editing screen that gives you a variety of manipulation options.
The first set of editing tools represent individual color aspects of the image, and include exposure, contrast, saturation, color temperature, highlights, and shadows. These each have individual sliders which you can use to tune your image how you like, and can save it once you get the settings you want.
The next menu houses a number of preset filters which you can use to quickly change the look and feel of your screenshot, just in case you want it to look a little fancier than when you took it.
The third menu allows you to straighten, rotate, flip, or change the scale of an image with free scaling tools.
The fourth menu allows you to draw on your image free-hand using 9 different color options, and gives you four different thicknesses you can use with your brush. This is especially useful when you want to show a friend how to do something, since you can simply take a screenshot and draw the section you want to present to them.
The final menu is the stamp tool. It allows you to drop a copyright mark, OnePlus “Never Settle” slogan, custom text, and a location.
After you’re done with all your edits, you can save it to your device and send it along to wherever you need it to go. It’s nice having these functions built right into the device, because it means you don’t have to use a third party editing software to edit and draw on your images.
