Though Jailbreakers are trying their best but it seems that they have to put additional hard work as Apple and other networks are now stressing upon sophisticated integrations in their devices. Recent news which reportedly came from MuscleNerd (famous jailbreaking iPhone Dev Team Member) managed to cheer up those iPhone owners, who were looking for a solution to unlock their iPhones for using it on another GSM network. According to MuscleNerd an iPhone developer Loktar Sun (Chinese Researcher) has come out with an unlocking jailbreak solution for iPhone, with the help of the SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module) by Sam Bingner. Here we require mentioning that this solution has been verified by MuscleNerd who managed to unlock his iPhone4S and got it running on T-mobile’s network. Now with a release of a solution of how to unlock jailbroken iPhone, it will be possible for users to try unlocking by themselves using SAM package but there is one major drawback in using this solution and that is, in case if you have an additional SIM card which you wish to use in the unlocked iPhone then you will need to repeat the process with each SIM.
Before you proceed with a process to unlock jailbroken iPhone, you need to require few things.
A jail broken iPhone not listed on any IMEI blacklist.
A computer with net connection.
Latest version of iTunes installed on your computer as it is the original carrier information of the locked device in question.
Now let’s begin with a process to unlock jail broken iPhone.
Step 1: Launch Cydia on jail broken iPhone and install SAM package. Recommended URL for doing the same is http://repo.bingner.com that contains an official update of SAM package and required dependencies. Step 2: Launch SAM interface either by tapping SAMPrefs icon found on Springboard or by entering into Settings.app by finding the SAM Preference Bundle. While doing this you must have the SIM card which you intend to use it.
Step 3: After SAM package launch, Select ‘De-Activate iPhone’ by entering into ‘Utilities’ option. After doing this ‘ActivationState’ should be read as ‘Unactivated’.
Step 4: Keep SAM enabled and by entering into Method options, choose ‘By Country and Carrier’ Thereafter find your carrier in list and keep in mind that for those networks who work with more than one Carrier ID, you will have to select ‘SIM ID’ option.
Step 5: Note down the IMSI in ‘SAM Details’ by logging into ‘More information’. Afterwards tap ‘Spoof Real SIM to SAM’.
Step 6: Go to the main SAM screen and then change your ‘Method’ to manual. Paste of enter the IMSI string which was saved in step 5.
Step 7: Now you connect your iPhone to your computer and allow iTunes to activate it. Double click ‘Phone Number’ parameter at the main device screen and see that the ICCID matches that of your SIM card. In case if it doesn’t match then you are required to start over again from Step 1.
Step 8: Now unplug your phone and close iTunes.
Step 9: Disable SAM and ignore the message which will ask you to uninstall SAM and delete lockdownd profile.
Step 10 : Connect iPhone to iTunes once again and an error will display stating that your phone can’t be activated which is normal. Close iTunes and reopen it.
Step 11 : Are you able to see signal bars ? if yes then congratulations because you have successfully finished the process.
Once you finish with the process to unlock jailbroken iPhone, ‘Push notifications’ may stop working but it can be easily restored by ‘clear push’ utility in SAM following by connecting to iTunes. These steps may appear lengthy but once you are done with it, you are all set to enjoy the benefits that an unlocked jailbreak iPhone has to offer you.
