The Samsung Galaxy A3 device sold in Latin America is now receiving the official Android 7.0 Nougat update via OTA. The OTA update is being rolled out in stages, and not all users are getting it in the same time. If you don’t want to wait for the new update to be available for your own Galaxy A3 A310M device and you look to manually update it, using the ODIN 3.12.3 tool, you will find the instructions in this present post.
The ODIN app is a small tool with the help which you can flash any new firmware update without the risk of losing data from your device.
Before starting the flashing process itself, follow the guidelines from below:
Use this guide only your device is a Samsung Galaxy A3 SM-A310M model. Don’t use the guide to update different devices or different Samsung models.
On your computer download from here and install the Samsung USB drivers.
Enable the USB Debugging option from Developer Options menu for ODIN to open and connect with your smartphone. If you cannot find the Developer Option menu, you need to unhide it from Setting->About Device-> Software Info and here tap seven times on the Build Number. When you will return to Settings you will find the Developer Options listed there.
In case your smartphone runs a stock rooted firmware, the root access won’t survive the update installation process. This is available also for any custom Recovery you might have installed. In this case the custom Recovery will be replaced with a stock Recovery image.
If your device runs on a custom ROM, you can use Odin to install the new Android 7 Nougat update over a custom ROM, but a Factory Reset will be required after the update is done installing.
Note that the Factory Reset wipes clean the system partition, removes the custom ROM and it aids the device to boot in normal mode.
The Factory Reset process will not delete any data from the internal storage of the phone.
This tutorial is onlyfor advanced users and the Android Source team cannot be blamed in case you brick yoursmartphone or you lose data in the process.
Make sure that before starting anything you read the entire post and that you follow the entire tutorial without skipping any step.
One very important aspect is that you charge the Samsung device and check that it has enough power for the installation process.
