HTC will begin rolling out its Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades to One M8 and One M9 handsets on a number of carriers in the U.S. and Canada this week, the company has confirmed. Mo Versi, HTC Product Manager, says we can expect to see the first Marshmallow update today.
“Great news for our Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron HTC One M9 owners,” Versi tweeted. “We’ll go live on Monday for the Marshmallow OS update.”
Versi also confirmed that Marshmallow would be available on One M8 handsets connected to Sprint in the U.S. this week, too, while those who are on T-Mobile can expect to see it around January 25.
These rollouts come after HTC first made Marshmallow available on unlocked One M9 handsets in the U.S. back in late December. The update comes with features like Doze, Android’s new app permissions, and a whole host of under-the-hood improvements that should provide better performance.
HTC has also tweaked its own Sense user interface for Marshmallow, but we’ll have to wait until Sense 8.0 rolls out later this year for any significant changes.
