Both the HTC Desire 816 and the HTC Desire 610 are now up for pre-order in Germany, which means we finally get to see how much they’ll cost in Europe (or at least the Eurozone). These two smartphones were unveiled by the Taiwanese company during its MWC event in February, and so far we’ve found out how much the Desire 816 is expected to cost in China – which is to say, not much.
Things are quite different in Europe, though, as you may have anticipated. Smartphones are generally more expensive there than in China, but in this case the price difference is pretty staggering. Amazon Germany is offering you the Desire 816 for €379, which is a lot more than the €213 approximate price for China. That estimation though came from a leak, so this may not be what it seems – we could be looking at a higher actual price in China. Plus, sometimes pre-order pricing is higher than what’s happening once a handset is in stock, so Amazon Germany may lower the price at some point too. For now, though, this is the situation.
The Desire 610 is obviously cheaper, and you can pre-order one if you’re in Germany for €299. Once again, Amazon is the retailer doing the honors. In both cases, shipping is free, but unfortunately we don’t have any estimated shipping date to speak of yet. The Desire 816 should become available in China by the end of this month, and elsewhere in April. The Desire 610 will be out in May, according to HTC’s original announcement.
