HTC caught our attention last month when it unveiled the Desire 816, a mid-range smartphone with solid specs and a sleek plastic design inspired by the aluminum HTC One. The company was vague on launch details though, promising to release the device in China by March ahead of a wider launch in April. Well today any U.K. residents pining for the Desire 816 can rest easy thanks to a tweet from the company confirming the handset is in fact headed to England.
As a quick refresher, he HTC Desire comes equipped with a 5.5-inch 720p display, a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 8GB of storage with microSD support, 1.5GB of RAM, LTE support and a 2600mAh battery. It’s also expected to offer Sense 6. There’s still no word on pricing, though a report out of China put the device at just under $300 off contract.
The Desire 816 will make it to the U.S. market in some form, though the company has not yet named carriers. We’re way more excited to see the All New HTC One make its debut later this month with an official launch rumored just a few weeks later in mid-April. The Desire 816 is still a beauty, and hopefully we have more details on its launch soon.
