HTC unveiled the Desire 816 a few days ago at MWC, pegging it as the king of the midrange. However, as is usually the case with such announcements, the company didn’t say anything about how much the phone would cost. That’s a very important piece of information, especially for a handset that isn’t high-end.
Luckily, we now have an idea of how much the Desire 816 will set you back, at least if you live in China. Over there, the company is expected to charge 1,799 yuan. That currently amounts to approximately $293 or €213. The Desire 816 will apparently be offered in China by all three carriers, and should be in stores on March 18.
Obviously, this information only applies to China. The price is quite good considering the specs, but let’s keep in mind that such products are always cheaper in China than they are elsewhere, thanks to the highly competitive market over there. Likewise, the release date may be different in other parts of the world.
The Desire 816 brings very good looks to the midrange table, but it has to be priced well across the world in order for it to be a true success for HTC. We’ll let you know when we find out more.
