It’s been rumoured for quite some time now of HTC’s plans to unveil a supposed One M8 variant with a 13MP camera, but it looks like that’s not the case anymore.
According to @upleaks, the M8_EYE as it was previously codenamed is actually just another plastic HTC Desire variant with a gigantic front facing camera. And that’s the point. This phone is actually meant to capture the spot for the ultimate selfie phone, as it is set to include a 13MP camera with dual-LED flash for both sides of the phone. It’s also worth noting that the cameras are in fact not using HTC’s UltraPixel camera sensor so it’ll be interesting to see how low-light shots turn out.
As for other specs, it’s going to be coming with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 2400mAh removable battery, Sense 6 UI and an IPx7 water resistance rating.
The phone is expected to be officially announced at the HTC event on October 9th, possibly with the Nexus 9 tablet.
