Some people just can’t get enough of themselves, and the new HTC Desire EYE is the perfect vehicle for digital narcissism. Want to take a selfie? The Desire EYE has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, giving you the tools to post only the sharpest and highest resolution selfies to your social networks. You know your best side—head tilted, pouty lips, winked eye—and the HTC Desire EYE promises to best accentuate that with its new take on what front-facing camera quality should be.
In addition to the 13-megapixel front-facing shooter, the EYE also sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter, both of which offer dual-LED flash. Front-facing cameras have been getting better over the months, but this is certainly a cut above. We took a few here at the office, and the detail was certainly impressive. I don’t usually partake in the selfie practice, but if you can’t go an hour without send a picture of yourself to the Internet, the EYE definitely fits that need.
The Desire EYE also sports a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, IPX7 rating, BoomSound speakers, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2400mAh battery. This is definitely a beefy device; not the most bleeding edge tech on the market, but certainly among the most powerful out there. And the design, as most HTC devices showcase, is lovely.
Pricing for the Desire EYE hasn’t been confirmed just yet, though when it hits AT&T, it should come in at a mid-range price point. For now, check out the unboxing above, and stay tuned for more EYE coverage down the road.
