The HTC Droid DNA has somewhat fallen off the radar of late. Thanks to the flurry of device releases and software updates in recent months, you could have been forgotten the phone existed, that is, unless you owned one. Droid DNA owners have been stuck on Android 4.1.1 since the device’s release and although it seemed like it was going to get an update, thanks to the news that the HTC Butterfly (from which the Droid DNA is cloned) was getting Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.0 way back in July.
Well, that wait is finally over as Android 4.2.2 is finally being pushed to Verizon HTC Droid DNA devices, some of which may already be seeing the update. Thanks to this very overdue update, DNA owners will finally get to see what BlinkFeed is like as well as a whole heap of other changes; 5 pages worth of changelog, in fact. That’s not the end of the good news for owners of the Droid DNA;
@CleFoodAndBrews No worries! Pending certification from your carrier, we plan to upgrade the Droid DNA to 4.4 by the end of Q1.
In case there was any doubt left in the tweet by @HTCUSA, the HTC Droid DNA is also going to receive an update to Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of Q1 2014. Obviously this depends on the approval process of Verizon itself, but based on the carrier’s recent behaviour, it may entirely be possible for the DNA to be updated very close to that deadline.
Any HTC Droid DNA owners out there who are excited to hear all this good news? Let us know what you think in the comments.
