HTC just introduced the HTC Desire EYE in the United States, a brand new device with a focus on taking better and higher quality selfies. The phone introduces several new software features, however, that will actually roll out to other devices in the coming months. The update will likely be at the mercy of carrier approval, however.
HTC said the EYE Experience lets you snap a photo from the rear and front-facing cameras at the same time, crop yourself into images, track your face more accurately in video chat applications like Skype, share your screen, snap a selfie simply by speaking “say Cheese,” and more. It will launch for the HTC One (M7), HTC One (M8), HTC One (E8), HTC One mini, HTC One mini 2, HTC One Remix, HTC One Max, HTC Desire 612 and the HTC Desire 816.
HTC didn’t provide specific launch details for the software update and we suspect it will vary by region, but you can expect it in the coming months.
