The HTC One M8 has won many hearts globally for its mixture of excellent design and hardware (except for the camera). And the Taiwanese manufacturer has now launched a slightly revamped version of the smartphone in Japan, going by the name of JButterfly. This variant of the handset packs almost the same internal hardware as the One M8 and also comes with the added bonus of being water resistant.
This makes the smartphone that much more interesting to the customers, although it’s only available through Japanese carrier KDDI for the time being. HTC launched the original J Butterfly through the same carrier a couple of years ago which was launched as the Droid DNA on Verizon shortly after.
The J Butterfly here packs the same 5 inch 1080p display, a quad core Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. The Duo Camera arrangement can be seen here as well, although the sensor used here is slightly better at 13-megapixels and is accompanied by a 5-megapixel front camera for self portraits. Since the device is water resistant in nature, the body is made of polycarbonate instead of metal. HTC will also offer the Dot View case for the handset, much like the One M8.
