HTC is reportedly prepping a pretty decent successor to the HTC Butterfly from 2012. According to new rumors, the highlight of the new HTC Butterfly 2 will be its water resistant body. The smartphone is also believed to sport a 5.2 inch 1080p display and a Snapdragon 800 chipset with no word on other hardware at this point. The smartphone will apparently break cover in January next year, so there’s still plenty of time left.
The original Butterfly smartphone never really made its way to the U.S. last year as Verizon carried the Droid DNA, which is basically the same smartphone. But things could be different this time around. All of this is a rumor for the time being, so we recommend you to take it with a pinch of salt, at least until we have confirmation coming from HTC.
Given the condition HTC is in right now, it should be willing to try anything to sustain in the mobile industry. And a water resistant smartphone with an HTC One like design could be a perfect combination.
