A few months ago, multiple leaks suggested that HTC was looking to launch a device called the One M8 Prime. However, subsequent reports mentioned that the company had dropped plans for this phablet. A new report is now claiming that HTC hasn’t completely forgotten about this device after all. According to a report from a Chinese site, the One M8 Max will feature a 5.5 inch Quad HD display and the new HTC Sense 6.5 UI running on top of the latest version of Android. Surprisingly, the smartphone is also expected to be water resistant which will give it a significant edge over the competition.
The One M8 Max could feature a design quite similar to the One M8 with a mixture of aluminum and silicon carbide ceramic alloy used in its making. The smartphone is further believed to be packing an 18-megapixel camera with OIS, 3GB of RAM and a 2.7 GHz version of the Snapdragon 805 SoC, so it seems like this rumored HTC flagship has all its bases covered. The One M8 Max will reportedly break cover in Q4 2014, so we will probably see the device being announced alongside the HTC Nexus 9 tablet.
