The much-rumored and much-hyped HTC M8 Ace could be launching on June 3, if the latest report from Taiwan is to be believed. According to a source from HTC’s home country, the ‘plastic flagship’ will be released in China first, and there are hopes for availability in Taiwan before the end of June.
It’s unclear from the wording used whether we should expect just an official announcement on June 3, or if that’s the actual day on which sales will start. Or if it’s both. The HTC M8 Ace will be priced at 3,000 yuan in China, which means approximately $481 or €352, far less than what its purported main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S5, goes for. In Taiwan, pricing should be around the NT$14,500 level.
The M8 Ace, which we saw for the first time a couple of days ago, has been said to come with a fashion focus. It will be made out of plastic (and not metal like the more expensive One M8), and it will have specs incredibly similar to those of the aforementioned Galaxy S5.
Past leaks talked about a 5-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera (with no UltraPixels and no Duo setup like in the One M8), and a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (clocked 200 MHz higher than the part in the One M8, oddly).
